Lina’s story

I was smoking on my front porch the other day, as I am wont to do from time to time, and a middle aged man asks me for a smoke. I was like, “Here you go.” I was in a really good mood after 2 glasses of wine and he must have sensed it and started to tell me allllll about his problems (wife left him, kids won’t talk to him, he has to live in a supportive housing unit, etc). Finally, after so much talking I was done being his friendly therapist and said “I gotta go dude, see ya!”

Ever since that day about a month ago, he walks up and down the street in front of my house, never going past the block. Constantly. He walks really slow and always looks in my house’s direction – if I’m going to the store, leaving the house, walking the dog, smoking – I always see him. I have told him “You can’t just walk past here back and forth like that. Stop!” but hasn’t changed much. GAH!
