Out & about in September!

We wanted to let everyone know about our busy, busy September! Hopefully, you can join us at some (and hopefully, all!) of these amazing events!

Friday, September 6th: 8pm, Fall Down Gallery.¬† A femme and sex-positive art event with all the proceeds benefiting us. Yay! We’ll be there, mingling, taking in the art and providing information at our info booth. You know you want to join us!

Saturday, September 7th: SlutWalk Ottawa! Everything starts at 1:30pm at the Human Rights Monument and ends with a march to the Women’s Monument at Minto Park (Elgin and Gilmour). We’ll be marching proudly against victim-blaming behind our bright pink HOLLA! banner. Join us!

Friday, September 20th: Chalk Walk! After the popularity of our last walk, we decided to have one more before the weather gets too cold and nasty.

Never been to a Chalk Walk? Think all the fun of being a five year old with a box of chalk and empty pavement combined with the energy of reclaiming the streets and engaging those you meet in conversations about street harassment and the importance of bystander intervention!

Meet up at 11am at the Bridgehead at Sparks & Metcalfe. We’ll hand out boxes of chalk and ideas for things to write, then we’ll stroll through downtown and write up anti-street harassment messages and engages with those we meet!

This event is weather dependant! Please check the Facebook page the morning of the event to ensure that Mother Nature is cooperating!

Thursday, September 26th: Take Back the Night! This yearly event is an amazing opportunity for women/womyn to reclaim the streets of Ottawa! It all starts at 6pm at the Women’s Monument at Minto Park, then we march throughout the downtown core and end at City Hall. There, you will find free food and drinks and tons of community groups handing out information and resources, including us! Make sure to stop by our table to pick up some buttons and bystander intervention information!

And this is all just one month!
