Comments by Transit Driver

I was getting on the 97 eastbound yesterday at Bay Street at about 7:15pm. When I got on the driver asked me, “How are you?”, I replied, “Fine thanks, how are you?” and he said “Great, now that you’re here, but I bet you get that all the time.”

This seems innocent enough but his tone and his eyes made me really uncomfortable. I should also say that I sometimes walk with a cane so taking public transit makes me feel vulnerable already, and the driver’s inappropriate comments really didn’t put me at ease.

Later on in the ride I heard him use pet names to describe other women like cutie or sweetie. Not okay!
